Background
In summer 2021, Nanjing City Museum launched Art in the Ukiyo-e Age, an exhibition introducing Japanese Ukiyo-e art to a general audience through immersive spatial storytelling and hands-on interactive experiences.
Exhibition Space
Based on on-site spatial research of the museum's exhibition halls, our team designed the spatial layout and visual flow for 72 artworks across three thematic zones, preface hall, exhibition halls, and interaction area, using progressive disclosure to guide audiences through the narrative naturally.

Marketing Collateral
To support the museum's public outreach for the exhibition, I was in charge of the promotional materials, designing exhibition tickets, posters, and a series of large-format artist posters featuring 12 Ukiyo-e masters. Displayed throughout the interaction area, the poster series was designed to be visually striking and share-worthy, encouraging audiences to photograph and post on social media.

The Photo Spot
To create a memorable closing moment for the exhibition, I also facilitated designing a large-scale collage poster for the interaction area, which is the final stop of the visitor journey. By zooming into the faces and details of key figures across Ukiyo-e paintings, the poster composed a visual snapshot of everyday life in the era. This piece became a natural photo spot, drawing audiences to pause, photograph, and share.
